We believe people with mental health and wellbeing needs should all have the opportunity to thrive outdoors. We mend mindsets in nature.
Our mission here at Pages Care Farm is to contrast the ‘everyday’ by giving people the freedom and independence to roam outdoors and care for our farm animals, feeding their confidence and building resilience.
We’ll be happy when all rehabilitation journeys for those living in urban areas include outdoor self-care, as we know that caring for nature and animals helps us care for ourselves.
It’s why we get out of bed in the morning (even when it’s cold and wet!) and we’d love you to join us.
Our countryside experience enables students to develop autonomy by being encouraged to take responsibility for our animals and horticultural projects, while learning about all aspects of farm management and maintenance in the outdoors. We believe that caring for something or someone else gives our students real purpose (a great reason for us all to ‘get out of bed each morning’, even when it is cold and wet) which sets a precedent for positive work habits and ethics moving forward.
Our vision is for outdoor self-care to be an integral part of all rehabilitation journeys, as more people are recognising the benefit of the outdoors to mental health and wellbeing.
Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce Diversity & Inclusion Award Winner 2023
We are an award-winning private care farm in Elstree, Hertfordshire, providing young people with special needs and mental health challenges a place to grow in nature in collaboration with local authorities, healthcare trusts, schools and private individuals through group skills & therapy projects, mental health therapy programmes and corporate wellbeing opportunities.
We are not a farm where people play with animals, nor a petting zoo. Instead, we are a hard-working place with a structure that transforms lives by building self-confidence and equipping our students with transferable skills for day-to-day life and the workplace.
Social Farms & Gardens Green Care Quality Mark Certified
We are pleased to have been awarded a quality assurance certificate for our responsible, caring and safe organisation here at Pages Care Farm. The accreditation reassures all who visit that our operation meets the stringent standards set by the Social Farms & Gardens organisation
School Farm Awards: Winner of the most Innovative Curriculum & Student of the Year Award
We celebrated our special partnership with Woodfield School in Kingsbury, part of Compass Learning Partnership by entering two of their SEND pupils and our innovative curriculum. Thank you to the Woodfield School staff and pupils who attended the prestigious event at the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester on 30th June 2023. We were over the moon to have been awarded the Best Innovative Farm/Garden-based Curriculum award, plus John Whittle won a joint award for Student of the Year, while Haben Gdey received a special mention in the Student of the Year category.
A big-hearted team
Our team of passionate staff and volunteers are here to host mental health and wellbeing skills and therapy projects that centre on the happiness of our rescue animals and horticulture. You, our guests and volunteers complete our team to help make an even greater difference together here on our private farm in Elstree Hertfordshire, just outside London.
Nathalie Simpson, Founder
Our animals are just as much part of the team as ‘the humans’. They are friendly, curious and love human interaction. Many are rescue animals who now call Pages Care Farm home. Rain or shine, they are always excited to see our guests, volunteers and staff. Nothing puts a smile on our faces more than happy and healthy animals.
